Fire protection in any building is essential to ensure the safety of its occupants. In commercial buildings design and architectural demands can influence what is possible in terms of fire safety. However Vetrotech Saint-Gobain UK Ltd has developed a range of innovative glass doors and panels which will not only add design flair to any building but also meet the stringent fire protection standards required.

The company has developed a range of products which will suit most interior applications and also exterior facades and features.

The product range consists of the following:

SGG Pyroswiss

Has a 30 minute (E30) fire resistance but has the same versatility as conventional glass. Also incorporated is a high impact mechanical strength and break safe characteristics, tested to Class A. BS 6206:1981.

SGG Vetroflam

Is specifically designed to meet new radiation controls (Euronorm EN357:July2000). It is a 6mm thick single sheet and has 60 minute resistance with significant reduction in heat transfer through the glass.

SGG Contraflam Lite

This is a multi-laminate fire resisting and partially insulating glass. It consists of two sheets of tempered safety glass and has a clear intumescent layer between them. Thickness is usually 14mm but will increase for larger panels over 1500 x 3000mm.

SGG Swissflam Lite

This is a multi-laminate fire resisting and insulating glass which also conforms to radiation controls (Euronorm EN357: July 2000). The insulation ability of this glass enables 15 minutes of full insulation and reduced heat transfer. In the event of fire the heat shield will help to maintain escape routes for longer.

SGG Swissflam

This is a multi-laminate fire resisting and insulating glass separated by intumescent layers. Depending on the level of fire resistance needed the number of glass layers can be increased to order.

SGG Contraflam

This is a multi-laminate fire resisting and fully insulating glass. Two or more layers of tempered safety glass with intumescent layers provide the exact level of fire resistance or reduced heat transfer required.

SGG Contraflam Structure

This is the latest product on offer which is ideal for frameless solutions and it can be used for wall partitions in office or retail premises. Two or more tempered monolithic safety glass sheets are used and separated by intumescent layers which, in the event of fire, will turn opaque and form an insulating barrier.

Vetrotech Saint-Gobain products are CE marked. This confirms that products comply with essential requirements of the Construction Products Directive (CPD).
