Colour shift film from Solarshield transforms hospital centre

Solarshield has transformed the new Morgan Stanley, Mittal Children’s Medical Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital with dichroic colour change film.

Outside of new centre

The new centre is part of a plan to redevelop and modernise the famous London children’s hospital, increasing patient capacity by over a quarter.

The building designers wanted to transform the facade of the building by adding more colour having received feedback that the facade did not have the Wow Factor and should be bright and bold. Solarshield worked with designers and the team at Great Ormond Street to enhance the facade with window film.

After reviewing a number of different design options, a barcode pattern was selected incorporating 3M’s Dichroic Architectural Film. Dichroic is a dynamic multi-layer optical film which allows colours to shift when viewing from different angles, creating a magnificent shimmering effect.

Solarshield developed the bespoke design in-house with their graphic design team and supplied and installed the window film on site. Solarshield’s Dichroic window film adds an exciting dimension to the new facade, reflecting light and colour into, and across the building.
