Devoran Metals contributes to Eden exhibition

Devoran Metals is proud to have supplied steel reinforcement for the latest permanent exhibition at Cornwall’s Eden project - Invisible Worlds.

The Root Dome

Invisible Worlds reveals the world beyond our senses: too big, too small, too fast, too slow, too far away in space and time. Part of the fascinating exhibition includes ‘The Root Dome’, a prefabricated structure made from radius bent reinforcing bar and fabric-formed concrete. The idea behind the structure is about soil and mycorrhizal fungi that connect plant roots together in a giant underground communications network.

The Root Dome was designed and built by Concept Shed with Automata by Keith Newstead.

Dr Jo Elworthy, Eden’s director of interpretation, said: “This is about showing people the mind-blowing systems and organisms that control every aspect of our lives but are either too big, too small or too far away for us to see. Everything we need to live is right here on planet Earth. Only sunlight comes in and only heat escapes. We need to work with nature’s phenomenal recycling system.

“Invisible Worlds is a fabulous new way to convey scientific secrets of the world to our visitors.”
