The Safety Letterbox Company supplies design-led fire rated mailboxes for apartments

The Safety Letterbox Company maintained the development’s high design standards when supplying fire rated mailboxes for the reception area of high specification apartments in a sought-after canalside location in London.

Paddington Exchange has 123 high specification one, two and three bedroom apartments arranged over 14 spacious floors. The Taylor Wimpey Central London development is situated on the site of the former North Western Community School, offering easy access to a number of high-end street cafes, restaurants and shops. A wealth of transport links around the city add to the desirability of the Paddington Exchange project.

The project features multiple banks of wall recessed ‘Fire Rated 2’ mailboxes located in the entrance lobby area. The mailboxes contain a series of features and benefits that result in a ‘one hour integrity’ rating that conforms to the BS476 Part 22 fire standards. For more information, please visit The Safety Letterbox Company’s Fire Rated Mailbox page.

The mailboxes are finished in an IGP-DURA®xal paint using a Dark Bronze – E82352 colour. Each mailbox features engraved numbering in a COPASETIC NF font on the opening flap coloured with a contrasting black infill.

The banks of mailboxes are completed with a surround trim used to mask the join between the mailboxes and the installation wall. Large panels are used in conjunction with the banks of mailboxes which allow for easy identification of the relevant mailbox for both the residents and postal delivery workers.

Derek Nash, Sales Manager for Furniture Group Manufacturing Ltd, had these thoughts on the project:

“From the very first site meeting with the client Bouygues UK, it was evident that we had the same work ethos and it was a company where we felt we could build a real team relationship.

“The client brief for the letterbox unit in the main reception was to be mounted on the wall, to a special colour, and achieve the required fire rating. Safety Letterbox achieved this, and together, after completing site surveys, ensuring wall panels were adequate, and working on design details, decided upon the best solution to achieve the client requirements.

“This allowed the Safety Letterbox units to be incorporated within our design/working drawings, where we manufactured and installed the surrounds, produced in hand-laid Walnut veneers, to complete this part of the project.

“The overall finished product looks stunning and was completed on time, to the complete satisfaction of our client. It was a pleasure to work with Safety Letterbox on this project, it was a real team effort, and we certainly look forward to working with them in the future.”
