Uses and Benefits
Gazebos have been a feature of gardens for thousands of years and now these open sided shelters are also proving useful for public spaces and commercial premises.
Well-to-do Egyptians used gazebos in their gardens 5,000 years ago as a support for growing vines; in the Orient, they were social places for tea ceremonies; the Victorians used them as quiet places to reflect. In all cases, a garden gazebo should be placed in a site to make the most of the view. With its open sides, a gazebo gives the opportunity to admire the surroundings and watch a sunset while dining al fresco or socialising with friends and family.
With its solid roof, a gazebo also provides shade and serves as a rain shelter. Traditionally octagonal, they are now available in a number of shapes to suit different uses and various materials to complement the environment.
