Funktional Kitchens was established in 2005 by Vicky and Mark Shudell and specialises in the design and supply of custom-made contemporary kitchens including German kitchen furniture. The company also designs furniture for other rooms that can be custom made to coordinate with existing furniture. Such pieces include TV units, console tables and dining room storage.
Funktional Kitchens has two London based showrooms located in Islington and Crouch End where clients can see for themselves the stunning range of designs and finishes available. The team of experienced and skilled designers has created solutions for numerous clients including architects, interior designers and private individuals covering a wide spectrum of properties including large family properties, converted farmhouses, loft apartments and even cramped and dark basements, transforming them into modern and functional spaces.
The Design Process
Funktional Kitchens provides a comprehensive design service to ensure that the client gets exactly what they want at the best possible price. The design process starts with an initial planning appointment within one of the showrooms where a detailed discussion will establish specific needs and tastes. A general estimation of the project cost will be provided prior to a site visit. Once all the measurements are obtained, a CAD drawing of the new kitchen will be created. A range of alternative variations on the design can be shown to assist the client in making the final decision. A full breakdown of all the costs will also be provided. Once the kitchen is approved and ordered, it should be ready for installation within six weeks.
Products
All the kitchen furniture is bespoke and custom-made in Germany and incorporates exceptional quality signature mechanisms, soft closing cupboard doors and self-closing pan drawers. Each piece is lacquered and comes in more than 100 different matt or high gloss colours. Once the design and style of the kitchen is established, the emphasis is on the products that are put into it. The design team will work closely with the client to plan and advise on all the storage needs and discuss the practicalities and different style options for the most appropriate work surfaces. Guidance can also be provided in selecting the best appliances for the kitchen.
Funktional Kitchens offers three kitchen design ranges from suppliers in Germany and Barcelona to create a choice of kitchens ranging from the very affordable to high end. Every kitchen is designed to incorporate functionality and storage solutions coupled with client input, individual design and bright ideas.
The ranges include:
- Inova: The Inova range is a cost effective, quality range which features a blend of contemporary cabinetry and ergonomic design. There is a wide selection of looks available within the Inova range to create a stunning and unique kitchen.
- Hacker: The Hacker collection incorporates innovative German engineering to create an extensive range of carefully considered and forward thinking kitchens. The designs within this range feature contemporary, yet elegant design with totally functional and organised storage solutions.
- Doca: The Doca collection is a new range of kitchen, bedroom and bathroom furniture from Barcelona. The range includes a wide varietu of standard or bespoke door finishes that will coordinate beautifully with any interior design.
Storage Solutions
All the furniture ranges incorporate internal storage systems and compartments to keep everything orderly and organised. There are storage options for pans, pots, cutlery, knives, recycling bins, dry goods, children’s arts and crafts and even for larger items such as vacuum cleaners.
Worktops
Funktional Kitchens provides an enormous spectrum of worktops to suit every interior design requirement and personal taste. The worktops are available in natural stone granite, sparkly stone composites, Corian, glass, solid surfaces, laminate, stainless steel and solid wood in an extensive choice of colours and finishes.
Appliances and Accessories
Funktional Kitchens provides a wide range of appliances from leading manufacturers. The company holds accounts with Siemens, Bosch, De Dietrich, Smeg, Elica, Franke and Gessi and appliances include American fridge freezers, dishwashers, ovens, hobs, washing machines, dryers and specialist luxury items such as built-in coffee machines and wine coolers. A full range of sinks and taps is also available.
